Alex stumbled into massage therapy somewhat by accident. After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Oregon, she enrolled in Lane Community College’s massage program as a stepping stone before applying to grad school. While in the program, however, she was amazed to learn how massage could positively impact physical and mental health. She also noticed that there wasn’t a lot of talk about how to meet the needs of who wanted massage, but weren’t necessarily comfortable receiving touch.

With over five years of experience working in non-profit organizations that offered support and resources to folks dealing with IPV and survivors of sexual assault, she began to try and craft a trauma-informed approach to her work. It is less - she believes - about a particular modality, and more about having the flexibility to work with clients to craft a massage experience that feels safe and comfortable. She has gone on to teach continuing education classes for other massage therapists to introduce a trauma-informed, client empowerment approach to massage; as well as spending a year teaching at a massage school. In addition, she has found there is an undeniably therapeutic aspect to her work. Ten years into her career, she has had the privilege of working alongside clients with fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, cancer, chronic pain, PTSD, and more to improve their quality of life.

After seventeen years of living, learning, and working in Eugene, Alex moved back to Corvallis. In her spare time you can often find her hunting waterfalls or exploring the Oregon Coast with a camera in hand.
