Cynthia Thelen, Professional Counselor Associate
Therapist
(she/her)
Cynthia earned her master's degree in mental health counseling with a somatic emphasis from Prescott College. She brings a rich professional background that includes helping to relieve human suffering as a community organizer, direct service provider, craniosacral therapist, paralegal, and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She provided grief support through a local hospice for half a decade and trained volunteers to sit with people who were dying without personal support.
Cynthia welcomes a diverse clientele facing a variety of challenges, working with them in the context of their family, culture, and the social forces that impact them. She works with clients who want to heal from trauma and anxiety, navigate life transitions, grieve losses, or shed old patterns and memories. Cynthia welcomes the opportunity to join clients as they unpack religious and spiritual training, beliefs, and practice, whether that means supporting what is nourishing or recovering from spiritual trauma or harm.
Cynthia is trained in EMDR, a therapy that can help you release painful memories from your mind and body so you may live with more ease. Her work is client-centered and informed by parts work (Internal Family Systems). She is a warm, calm, supportive presence that will actively help you address your discomfort and desire for change while cultivating your strengths, insight, and awareness.
Cynthia enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She likes to listen to live music, tell jokes, work out, play puzzles, read, and ride her bicycle (which she considers one of the greatest inventions).
