Jim Blount (he/him)

Therapy Intern

Jim is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oregon State University who takes a relational, collaborative approach to therapy. Grounded in Relational Cultural Therapy, his counseling style integrates somatic awareness, mindfulness practices, and ecotherapy to support holistic healing and growth. He believes that clients are the experts of their own lives, and sees his role as a guide and collaborator—supporting clients as they explore their values, deepen self-understanding, and make changes that align with what matters most to them.

Jim’s work is strongly informed by a social justice lens. He is attentive to the intersectionality of identities and the ways power dynamics, systemic oppression, and cultural contexts shape lived experience, mental health, and relationships. He strives to create a counseling space that is affirming, inclusive, and responsive to each client’s unique social location.

He enjoys working with individuals from all backgrounds and is especially interested in supporting queer folks, outdoor athletes, and men who are seeking to explore healthy, connected expressions of masculinity.

Jim is a white, Indigenous trans man who finds grounding and joy in the natural world—whether climbing mountains, paddling wild rivers, or biking through rainy forests. He lives with his partner, dog, cat, and three chickens.
